SuddenFlames

SuddenFlames is a Heavy Metal/Power Metal band from Quebec City in Canada. The sound of SuddenFlames is influenced by traditional Power Metal bands like Gamma Ray, Helloween and Hammerfall. The members of the band are big fans of Old school Metal like Iron Maiden and Judas Priest and one can hear it. Melodies and musical structure are typically European but with a strong American thrash sound

SuddenFlames is born in 2001 around Jean-Robert Letarte. The song « The Headless Horseman » was written when he was only 15. We have to wait to 2004 for the release of a demo entitled Bewitched Boat. The band is then Jean-Robert Letarte on vocals, Sebastien Latulippe and Eric Vaillancourt on guitars, Pascal Lacombe on bass and Eric Morissette on drums. This demo includes three original songs taken from their current set list. Following that release came many shows as supporting act for bands like Dragonforce, Stratovarius, Kamelot, Paul Di'Anno (ex-Iron Maiden) and a Canadian Tour in 2007 with Paul Di'Anno and Dream Quest. Sebastien Lessard took the bass spot as a replacement for that tour as Pascal Lacombe was not available at that moment. In 2008, Pascal Lacombe leaves the band for personal reasons. He is replaced by Pascal Landry just before entering the studio to record their first complete album. December 2009 Death Might Be Late is launched in front of a crowded audience and is well received and acclaimed by the critics. Another change of members occurs in 2010 and 2011. First, the return of Pascal Lacombe on bass.

Then, in 2011, Eric Vaillancourt and Eric Morissette are taking different roads. The band has to postpone the awaited follow-up to Death Might Be Late. On May 15th the web site announces the arrival of Daves Couture on guitar. The band will be complete again in August with the confirmation of Nicolas Blanchet on drums. The songs for the next album are completed and recording sessions are beginning in late 2011. A first excerpt from the next album will soon be released.
