Alkemy

aLkemy is a band playing a unique blend of rock and fusion, formed during the summer of 2000 and based in Bordeaux, France. Together their songs mix the energy, the form and the rhythms of rock music with the harmony, the soloing and the precision of jazz. Their influences range from Dream theater, Queensrÿche to Chick Corea Elektric Band, Miles Davis or Pat Metheny Group.

Soon after the creation of the band and a couple of concerts, aLkemy records a 3 track demo, then 4 more tracks to complete what will become their first demo, "Stockholm syndrome" (quickly selling out). The band wins Blanquefort's Battle of the bands (jury's prize) in may 2001.

After a year playing as a power trio (guitar/voice - drums - bass), the band spreads out to a 4 piece group, hiring a much needed keyboard player. A few more songs are written and the band gets to play on bigger stages and bigger audiences, such as Moliere Theater and Barbey Theater in Bordeaux. Shortly after these shows, aLkemy gets the opportunity to record a full length album. A few big shows are played in between the sessions (outdoor festivals), including a feature in the Zenith Arena in Pau. aLkemy's debut album, da 63 projekt, after 3 different mixing sessions is finalized during the end of 2003 and released worlwide by UNICORN RECORDS in 2004.

Alkemy est un groupe a mi-chemin entre le rock et la fusion, formé à l'été 2000 et basé sur Bordeaux. Leur son mélange l'énergie, la forme et les rythmes rock avec l'harmonie, les solos et la précision du jazz. Leurs influences vont de Dream theater, Queensrÿche à Chick Corea Elektric Band, Miles Davis ou Pat Metheny Group.

Peu après la formation du groupe et quelques concerts, aLkemy enregistre une démo 3 titres, puis 4 autres pour ce qui deviendra leur première démo, "Stockholm syndrome" (rapidement épuisé). Le groupe remporte le 8ème Tremplin Rock Junior de Blanquefort (prix du jury) en mai 2001.

Après un an passé à jouer sous la formation de "power trio" (guitare/chant - basse - batterie), le groupe s'élargit avec un quatrième membre, recrutant le clavier qui manquait à leur son. A la suite de l'écriture de quelques nouveaux morceaux, le groupe s'ouvre les portes à des scènes plus grosses comme le théâtre Molière scène d'Aquitaine ou le théâtre Barbey à Bordeaux et élargit son public. Après ces concerts, aLkemy prend l'opportunité d'enregistrer un album. Entre les sessions, ils jouent sur quelques grosses scènes, notamment au Zénith de Pau. Le premier album d'aLkemy, da 63 projekt, après 3 sessions de mixage est finalisé fin 2003 et sort mondialement sur UNICORN RECORDS en 2004.
